How the Cold Weather Affects Bats
Metal bats are designed for use in temperatures higher then 60 degrees. Cold weather has an adverse effect on wood and metal bats. The cold temperature causes wood and metal to contract or shrink. This shrinkage greatly affects the performance of the bat. A metal bat is also prone to denting and cracking in cold weather conditions. By heating the bat you can restore the bats performance and help prevent cracking or denting of metal bats.
